When it comes to guarantees for Search Engine Optimization, there’s good news and bad news!  The good news is that an experienced SEO expert CAN get you better rankings than you already have.  The BAD News is:  there are no guarantees!   While we have experienced success with virtually every client that we have served, we have never made explicit guarantees about getting someone specific rankings.  You simply cannot.  It would be like guaranteeing the weather over a long period of time.  Except Google is as powerful as Mother Nature!  Google probably  has more engineers and programmers than even they know that they have.  They spend thousands of hours collaborating on their search algorithms, and how to make it more human.  And like humans, it changes by the hour.  And when one website improves, with a video or blog, it can affect hundreds of other websites which in turn can effect yours.  Kind of like the butterfly effect.  Have you ever heard of the butterfly effect.  The way I remember it, a butterfly in the Amazon jungle flaps its wings, the event replicates across the world with effect that can potentially create a tsunami in another area on the other side of the world.  It’s a far fetched theory, but one with real possibilities.  Thus, when Google makes a change, it changes the ranking of another website, which effects another, which affects another, and so on.

And of course, there’s also the possibility that Google makes changes to thart the efforts of marketing people that are trying to get to the number one ranking so they don’t spend more money on PPC.  But that’s just a myth, right?

The bottom line is this, if you have found a good SEO expert that is getting you results, stick with them.  You are going to have some ups and downs, but long term, they are like a good stock broker, their experience will pay off for you in the long run.  And what ever you do, if you are getting results on a gradual basis, don’t go build a new website just for the sake of a new look.  Change what you have gradually so you don’t get punished.  Because the punishment is very difficult to overcome….
